2024 Interior Design Awards Competition Presented by ASID PA East Chapter
The 2024 IDAs are sponsored by the PA East Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers. By entering this competition, You – the Entrant - represent and warrant that you have read, understand and agree to these Official Rules including but not limited to, the Competition Rules, Regulations and Eligibility Guidelines, Competition Entrant Terms and Conditions, Indemnification Requirements and Release as set forth below. These Official Rules will form a binding agreement between the Chapter and the Entrant.
ELIGIBLE ENTRANTS:
Design Professionals:
- ASID Design Practitioner members (Professional, Allied and Associate) who are in good standing with ASID and officially assigned to the PA East Chapter.
- ASID Designer/Practitioner members must have been the Lead Designer of the team unless the entire Firm has joined ASID as a Firm Partner as part of ASID's newly launched membership structure.
- Practicing Design Professionals (interior designers, architects, and builders) from the PA, DE, NJ areas who are NOT members of ASID.
Industry Partners:
- ASID PA East Chapter Industry Partners, and non-member Industry Partners.
- Whether an ASID member or not, the Industry Partner Representative must be
named in the entry form.
Students:
- Both ASID Student members and non-members may enter the competition.
- As long as a Student is enrolled in a program that falls under the umbrella of the ASID PA East Chapter, they may enter this competition. Full or part-time enrollment in an accredited Associate, Baccalaureate or Master's degree program and/or an accredited on-line Associate, Baccalaureate or Master's degree program within the United States.
ENTRY FEES:
Entry fees are non-refundable. Each individual entry requires a separate fee. All entry fees must be submitted and paid online.
ASID MEMBERS:
- Interior Design Practitioners - $150
- Industry Partners - $150
- Students - $30
NON-ASID MEMBERS:
- Interior Design Practitioners - $200
- Industry Firms & Professionals - $200
- Students - $30
ENTRY PROCESS:
- All entries will be submitted online through this competition website between May 10, 2024 and August 10, 2024.
- Entries may be started, partially finished, and saved before the submission deadline. In other words, you do not have to submit all of the entry components at the same time.
- Once an entry is complete, click the "Submit" button at the bottom of your entry. Even if you click the "Submit" button, you may still go back and edit your entry up until the deadline, but be sure to press the "Submit" button again when you finish making updates.
ENTRY DEADLINE:
All entry information, Owner and Photography permission forms, drawings, and photos with payment must be completed online and submitted on the competition website no later than 5:00 PM EST on August 10, 2024.
THERE WILL BE NO DEADLINE EXTENSIONS.
ELIGIBLE ENTRIES:
- Each project entered must have been completed after January 1, 2020.
- Entrants can enter as many projects and categories as desired. Each entry requires
an entry fee.
- The location of the project does not matter - just where the designer/firm is located.
- If a project was a past winner in the IDAs then it cannot be resubmitted. A winner
includes all categories, either 1st, 2nd Place or Finalist.
- Previously published projects may be entered.
- Comprehensive projects may be entered in only one (1) category. However, different
rooms from the same project may be entered in multiple categories (ie: bathroom,
kitchen) if they are not included/shown as part of the comprehensive project.
- All entries must adhere to entry requirements and judging criteria. Failure to comply
with these specifications will result in disqualification of entry and forfeiture of the entry fees
ENTRY RULES:
- NO identifying information of yourself, company, clients, school, or other involved parties may be included on the Design Category Form in written description or photos. This includes, but not limited to company descriptions, addresses/stamps, and photos. Business logos may be included in photos if they are integral to the actual built design in Commercial installed projects.
- NO identifying information of yourself, company, clients, or school may appear on CAD files, floor plans, elevations, 3D renderings. This is an immediate disqualification except for Commercial installed projects.
- Failure to include the required information and documentation will result in disqualification.
- All entries must be actual, physically installed projects except for student entries.
- All entries must be in the electronic format outlined.
- Each entry must fall under one of the listed categories.
- Projects may be entered in multiple categories, using different rooms.
- Entries will be weighted individually and in competition with other entrants in the same category.
- All images and documents must be submitted as JPG or PNG files. No PowerPoint uploads.
- A minimum of (2) and a maximum of (10) professional level photographs are required for each project. High quality photography is important, as winning entries may be published. “Before Photos” (minimum of 2) – are required but not in high quality.
- ASID reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and of applicant and awardees and to disqualify any participant or entry deemed not in compliance with and ASID is not required to provide a reason for its determination. ASID PA East also reserves the right to request further documentation, at their sole and absolute discretion, to verify eligibility and compliance with the application.
- All entry fees are non-refundable.
PHOTOGRAPHIC RELEASE:
- The Pennsylvania East Chapter of the ASID reserves the right to use any and all photographs of projects entered in the 2023 IDA Competition on the IDA website, IDA Facebook page, and additional social media platforms. This includes the PA East Chapter of the ASID website, ASID PA East Facebook page, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, other social media platforms and the chapter membership directory.
- If your (or your company’s) contract with the photographer(s) of this project gives you permission to publish the photographs for your own marketing purposes, then the Firm/Designer assumes full responsibility; therefore, absolving the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers of all legal liability.
CONSENT AND CONDITIONS:
- Applicants consent that all information supplied in the online application form is accurate and truthful.
- Applicants agree to have their name and likenesses used for ASID Marketing/Promotional Purposes.
- The number of prizes issued annually is up to the sole discretion of ASID PA East Chapter.
MUST INCLUDE IN ENTRY:
- Project description: 600 words or less
- Modified project summary: 50-75 words, will be used at Awards presentation in the event the project wins.
- Furniture Floor plan: to scale in PDF format with scale and square footage indicated.
- Photography: a minimum of (2) and a maximum of (10) professional level photographs are required for each project.
JUDGING CRITERIA:
100 points possible with the following breakdown for all categories:
- Design Concept Statement: 15 points
- Design Challenges & Solutions: 20 points
- Scale & Proportion: 15 points
- Creativity: 25 points
- Overall Quality of Project: 25 points
Judges are selected from ASID Practitioner members across the nation and represent a variety of disciplines. They reserve the right to award any combination of honors in a particular category – e.g. a 2nd Place in absence of a 1st Place. The judges reserve the right not to issue an award for a category where they feel the quality of work does not meet the design standards. Judges will not know which entries are submitted by ASID members and which entries are submitted by non-members.
AWARDS EVENT:
The Awards Event date and location will be held at 6:00 pm on September 26th, 2024 at The Philadelphia Racquet Club.
