Interior Design Awards 2023 Competition Requirements

Eligibility:
- The IDAs are open to any individual or firm practicing interior design within the geographic area served by the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the ASID. A project is eligible if it has been completed after January 1, 2020 and before December 31, 2022, and has not previously won an IDA.
- All entries must be actual, physically installed projects, with the exception of the Student Category.
- Each entry requires an entry fee.
- You may only enter a space once. For example – if you enter an entire home in one of the Single-Family Residence categories and include a picture of the kitchen, you cannot enter that kitchen in any of the Residential Kitchen categories. For example – if you enter a hotel in the Hospitality – Hotel/Lodging category and include a picture of a retail space within the property, you cannot enter that retail space in the Retail Category.
Competition Schedule:
- 10/28/2022 Start of competition. Competition information and details of past winners are available online at www.philadelphiainteriordesignawards.com
- 3/1/2023 11:59 pm deadline for all entries. Entries submitted after 11:59 pm will not be accepted.
- 3/2/2023 Judging of entries begins
- 4/1/2023 Judging of entries finishes
- 5/12/2023 2023 Interior Design Awards Gala held at the The Great Court at Mitten Hall, Philadlephia, PA.
- 5/22/2023 Digital Award Release Forms due from all competition winners. Digital Awards Badges will be sent out no later than 5/29/23.
Entry Fees:
- First project entry: ASID Members: $150.00, Non-ASID Members: $200.00.
- Each additional project entry by the same firm or individual: $ 125.00 for all.
- Students: ASID Members $30 per entry, Non-ASID Students $85 (includes student membership).
Entry Submission Guidelines:
- Create your login on the competition site.
- If you previously used the CPJAM platform for 2020 IDAs, you can use this login.
- Once you have your login, go to the Contest page to register, and pay for each of your entries.
- Be sure to complete the IDA 2023 Entry and Release Form. This form will not be visible to judges.
- Photographer and
- You will submit your entries electronically via CPJ Association Management entry system. Failure to include the required information and documentation will result in disqualification.
- IMPORTANT: Commercial Categories: Logo within the built environment that is integral to the design/branding and a permanent fixture within the space is allowed to be included in the photo submissions of the space. No superimposed logos will be accepted.
- Be sure to submit your Project Design board photo. This will not be seen by the Judges so it may contain your firm’s information/logo.
- No computer rendered images allowed - photography only. The exception to this is the Student Award category.
- Attend one of IDA Info Sessions held on how to submit your project(s).
Entry Submission Requirements:
- Design concept statement: 400 words or less. Do not include the firm's name or project name in the design concept statement.
- Photographs to be 300 dpi and no larger than 10MB (2 MB minimum, 4 MB preferred)
• IMPORTANT: Remove all title blocks, logos, and firm and project names from the images.
- Maximum of 8 after project photos.
- Maximum of 4 Supporting Images/Drawings (i.e. before plan, after plan, reflected ceiling plan, before photographs, etc.)
- Complete the IDA 2023 Entry and Release Form. This form must be completed for each entry. Please note that this form will not be visible to the judges.
- Submit your Project Design board photo
Awards:
- First Place (for each Residential and Commercial category)
- Honorable Mention (for each Residential and Commercial category)
- Student Award - $1000 Cyndi Haaz, ASID Memorial Scholarship
- (As of May 2023, enrolled student scholarship goes toward school programing/supplies. If recipient is graduate as of May 2023, scholarship goes toward NCIDQ preparation/examination.)
- Best of IDA - Residential
- Best of IDA – Commercial
Judging Criteria:
- The IDA 2023 Judging Criteria are available online at http://www.philadelphiainteriordesignawards.com
- Maximum number of points a project can receive is 110 points.
- A project must receive a minimum of 60 points to be considered for an award.
Photographic Release:
- The Pennsylvania East Chapter of the ASID reserves the right to use any and all photographs of projects entered in the 2023 IDA Competition on the IDA website, IDA Facebook page, and additional social media platforms. This includes the PA East Chapter of the ASID website, ASID PA East Facebook page, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, other social media platforms and the chapter membership directory.
- If your (or your company’s) contract with the photographer(s) of this project gives you permission to publish the photographs for your own marketing purposes, then the Firm/Designer assumes full responsibility; therefore, absolving the Pennsylvania East Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers of all legal liability.
Notification to Award Winners:
- Award winners will be announced at 2023 IDA Gala on May 12, 2023.
- First place winners will have their project Design Board on display and unveiled at the IDA 2023 Awards Gala.
- Design Boards will be 20" x 30" - horizontal format. Template example is provided on the IDA website.
- Design boards will be printed by the ASID PA East Chapter.
IDA 2023 Digital Award Release Form:
- Following the awards gala, competition winners will receive a Digital Award Release Form.
- This will include a photographer release and client release permission for the ASID PA East and the Interior Design Awards to publish photographs on platforms designated in the Photographic Release section of Competition Requirements.
- One the release form has been returned, competition winners will receive their IDA 2023 Digital Badge and their project will be promoted on media platforms.
Cancellation policy:
- No cancellations are allowed after 24 hours from time project submission (registering your project, does not have to be fully uploaded). Credit processing fees and $0.30/per transaction fee will be deducted from entry fee for refund, only if requested within 24 hours.
- Disqualification from category does not result in credit. No credit will be given for disqualified entries.
